Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold Review: Is the latest foldable worth the premium price?

It's been a big few months for the UK's foldables market.

Samsung released the seventh generation of its book-style Galaxy Z Fold 7, while Honor showed off its Magic V5. Even OnePlus got in on the action with its Open handset.

And now, Google has entered the chat.

The brand dropped its Pixel 10 Pro Fold on October 8, 2025. It's a relatively new entrant in Google's line-up - its first folding phone only came out in May 2023 with premium features to match the premium price.

While the price hasn’t changed much, many of the features have. I spent just over a week with Google’s new foldable to see how it measures up in an increasingly competitive market.

Design

As a Samsung fan, the first thing I noticed when taking the jade green Google 10 Pro Fold out of the box was its heft. At 258g, it’s 48g heavier than Samsung’s latest fold at 215g. I’m not in the phone fat-shaming business, but it’s something to note if you, like me, have become accustomed to carrying a much slimmer and lighter foldable.

The jade colour is pretty, and the phone sits stable when placed on the table thanks to the chunkier support around the rear cameras, unlike Samsung’s new Fold, which wobbles around because of this design oversight. Hey, it’s the small things.

As for screen size, the new Pixel Fold matches Samsung’s Fold 7 with eight inches of viewing space.

Google has also given it a new gearless hinge, which is what facilitates the book-style unfurling. Compared to its predecessor, this one can last through a decade of opening and closing, so this, along with a high dust resistance (IP68), ensures it is designed to go the distance.

New features

The frame is fractionally slimmer, and the screen is Google's brightest yet at 3000 nits (an upgrade from last year's 2700 nits). The eight-inch internal screen is made for play with enough space to watch movies or play games without squinting. Like Samsung's Fold, this handset offers a split-screen mode, whereby you can have multiple apps running side by side simultaneously. The difference

The big screen is great for picture taking, too. A new addition called Instant View puts your last snap on an enlarged photo roll on one side and your viewfinder on the other, so you can compare and improve on your last snap without letting the moment slip by.

Google's new foldable also offers Pixelsnap, a magnetic technology that's like Apple's MagSafe, so if you're making the leap from iOS to Android, you should still be able to use the same charging and phone accessories.

Performance

Battery life is great, with loads left in the tank at the end of the day, but this is a box-fresh device, so it remains to be seen how to fares over time. I also appreciated the screen brightness when taking the Pixel 10 Pro Fold away on a sunny weekend - I could see maps and photos clearly, even in bright sunshine.

Cameras have always been where Google’s Pixel phones shine, and the 10 Pro Fold is no exception. The rear cameras remain the same as the Fold 9 (you’ll find a 48MP main camera, a 10.5MP ultra-wide lens, and a 10.8MP telephoto camera with a 5x optical zoom), taking bright, detailed pictures in the day as well as after dark thanks to the superior Night Sight mode.

My favourite camera feature remains Add Me, which layers one image over another so you can stick yourself in group shots when you weren’t in the original photo. This is what it’s supposed to be used for anyway; I had great fun layering double images of myself in slightly different poses to create the illusion of twin Abhas.

Cost - is it worth the price?

At the better part of £2K, this foldable isn’t cheap by any measure, but take it from me, once you’ve had a slab-to-tablet hybrid, it is impossible to go back. Plus, seven years of security and system updates make it a great deal if you’re picturing it for the long term. The question is, has Google managed to dethrone all other contenders?

Despite Google’s heightened durability, I’d say not quite. The slimness of Samsung’s model pips it for me, although others may not mind Google’s chunkier dimensions. For those who live or work in a dust-prone place, it’s wise to go for the highest IP rating you can get for your money - and at IP68, this is the highest of any foldable currently available.

If Google manages to make its folding phone leaner next year, all other rivals had better watch their back.

Verdict

Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold

With great cameras that take amazingly detailed shots both day and night, a polished design and the ability to multitask on one screen, Google’s Pixel 10 Pro Fold has all the features to take on high-ranking competitors, namely Samsung. While some may prefer Samsung’s slenderness, the chunk of Google’s Pixel does feel more resilient, backed up with an IP68 durability rating that ensures small particles like dust or sand can’t work their way into the design.

This is a superb foldable that’s made to last with seven years of updates, something to bear in mind when you flinch at the high RRP. With the new phone out now, its predecessor, the Pixel Fold 9, has already tumbled in price, making it a good option to plump for if you want to save yourself a couple of hundred quid.
