Google Maps users can now play SNAKE on the app - here's how to access the game

It was one of the most popular games back in the 90s, and now Snake is back.

To celebrate April Fools’ Day, Google has added a secret Snake game to its Google Maps app .

In a blog about the game, Google said: “Starting today, you can play a twist on the snake game in different locations across the world - including Cairo, London, San Francisco, São Paulo, Sydney and Tokyo - right from Google Maps.”

To play, open the Google Maps app, and tap on the menu icon in the top left corner.

There, you can select ‘Play Snake’ to launch the game.

Google added: “Once you’ve selected a city, start picking up as many passengers as you can as your train travels around the world - stopping everywhere from Big Ben, the Great Sphinx of Giza to the Eiffel Tower.

"But make sure you don’t run off the map (or into yourself)!”

If you want to play, you’ll have to be quick - Snake will only be available on the Google Maps app this week.

However, Google has also launched a standalone site where you can play Snake long after April Fools’ Day.
