Google is hiring: In the week 12/04/10

Google has announced a global recruitment drive to take on 500 new staff which includes 100 new jobs in London, according to The Guardian's digital news blog PDA. As well as expanding its sales teams, the search business also has vacancies at its Victoria offices in admin, customer support, business operations and development, enterprise, HR, finance, legal and public policy, user experience, interaction design and software engineering.

Recruitment for the new Chesterfield FC football ground, the b2net stadium, starts at the end of this month, offering 130 new jobs for match day staff and catering professionals, reports The Star. A further 30 posts could be created in health, fitness and education when the site's Midlands Co-operative Community Stand becomes fully operational in 2011.

Now that East Renfrewshire councillors have approved plans for Scotland's first purpose-built Waitrose store, up to 200 new jobs could be created in the area, reports BBC News. The supermarket aims to open the store in Newton Mearns in early 2011 and also plans to invest further with farmers and suppliers in the west of Scotland.

Trafford Metropolitan Borough Council has released details about 200 new jobs set to be created a recycled paper mill in Manchester, reports Crains Manchester Business. The Spanish sustainable packaging and paper company, SAICA, is offering job opportunities for skilled paper production managers and engineers, purchasers, logistics and paper production operatives and HR, administration and clerical staff. Building work begins later this month and the site is expected to open February 2012.
