Google, Gmail and YouTube crashes for an hour with users affected worldwide

Google, Gmail and YouTube experienced major difficulties on Monday as the services crashed for users worldwide.

People reported issues across the world with DownDetector, reporting the issues started at around 11:56 GM.

Google later gave an update saying it had restored services for the vast majority of its users, just over an hour after the outage was first reported.

Those who reported issues with YouTube, 54% said they couldn't access the website, 42% couldn't watch videos and 3% were struggling to log-in.

And of those who reported problems with Gmail, 75% couldn't log-in, 15% couldn't access the website, and 8% were not receiving messages.

Google said it would “continue to work towards restoring service for the remaining affected users” but that no further updates would be provided via its service status website.

The technology giant did not disclose what had caused the problem, which had affected the company’s entire suite of apps.

“Please rest assured that system reliability is a top priority at Google and we are making continuous improvements to make our systems better,” the company said.
