Google Doodle has released its most popular games - here's how to play

Google has dug back through its archives and re-released some of its most addictive Doodle games to alleviate lockdown boredom.

The Google Doodles, which often appear in place of the usual Google logo on its homepage to mark special occasions, will be released over the next fortnight.

Today's featured Doodle game is a cricket game from 2017.

The cricket game originally marked the start of the ICC Champions Trophy but now it's back to fill in those long hours stuck inside your house.

You take the role of a cricket (the insect - see what they did there?) and try to score as many runs as possible against a team of snails.

The Google Doodle game releases started yesterday with Coding For Carrots, in which players have to programme a series of instructions to help a rabbit get to its carrots.

To play the daily Google Doodle, simply visit google.com and click on the Google logo.

This will also show you the daily archive, with 10 slots and 10 different games to be filled over the coming weeks.

The tech giant said in a statement: "As COVID-19 continues to impact communities around the world, people and families everywhere are spending more time at home.

"In light of this, we’re launching a throwback Doodle series looking back at some of our popular interactive Google Doodle games!"

We're now on day two of the Google Doodle games - more games will be added daily over the next eight days.
