Google Cloud has announced a bunch of new AI-backed security capabilities at its Security Summit 2025. The latest updates focus on three key areas: securing AI applications, using AI to boost cyber defenses, and expanding its unified security platform with automated threat response features.
The highlight of Google’s announcement is its push for “agentic SOCs” (security operations centers), where AI agents work autonomously alongside human analysts. These AI systems are designed to handle the repetitive work of triage, data collection, and alert investigation, tasks that traditionally consume hours of analysts’ time.
The tech giant has also introduced an Alert Investigation agent, now in preview, that can automatically enrich security events, analyze command-line activity, and generate process trees using methodologies from Mandiant’s human experts.
According to Google, the agentic approach could cut response times from hours to minutes, freeing up security teams to focus on advanced threats rather than everyday noise.
Protecting AI Agents and Applications
Interestingly, the major part of the update focuses on safeguarding AI systems themselves. Google expanded its Security Command Center’s AI Protection features. It includes automated discovery of AI agents and Model Context Protocol servers, improved model Armor protection for interactions within Google Agentspace, and new detection capabilities powered by Mandiant intelligence.
Apart from that, the updated model armor can now provide real-time protection against prompt injection, jailbreaking attempts, and sensitive data leaks.
Recent Google Updates Beyond Security
While today’s focus was on enterprise security, Google has also been rolling out AI-powered updates for everyday users. In Google Docs, the company recently introduced a “Listen to your documents” feature, powered by Gemini. It allows users to hear their files read aloud in natural-sounding voices.
That’s all about Google for now. But lately, there has been a lot of noise around AI. So, in the sea of updates, if you want to get all the important AI and tech news delivered straight to your phone, then join us on WhatsApp.
