Google brings digital garage bus to North East to provide free digital skills training

Google is bringing its Digital Garage bus to the North East, offering local people free advice and coaching on digital skills.

The bus will be touring the region this summer, with courses on how to stay safe online, building digital marketing plans and growing your personal brand on the internet.

The initiative offers people advice and coaching aimed to help grow their business and career, with face-to-face coaching for people with any level of experience.

Initial sessions will be made available at Washington and North Shields this week, followed by Benwell, Newcastle, and Yarm next week and North Shields, Middlesbrough and Sunderland later in the summer.

The bus tour is part of a wider presence Google now has in the North East, following the launch of a digital skills training hub at The Bridges Shopping Centre in Sunderland in May.

Ronan Harris, managing director for Google UK and Ireland, said: "We’re thrilled to bring the Google Digital Garage and continue to offer free digital skills training to individuals and businesses in Newcastle.

"We firmly believe everyone should be able to benefit from the opportunities that technology brings and we want to give people the skills they need to grow their confidence, career or business."
