'Goodnight' message as club announce 'final huge party'

Owners of a Merseyside club have announced they will be having a "final huge party" before being taken over by new management.

The owners of The Beach/Cool Room on Conway Street in Birkenhead have announced they're having a "final huge party" on New Year's Eve before being taken over by new owners in 2023. In a statement on their Facebook page they announced they had "no choice" but to say "goodnight for now" after covid hit the hospitality industry.

The owners opened IceBar in 1998 before opening Cool Room in 2001.

The announcement on their Facebook page read: "So 25 years ago we transformed the nightlife of Birkenhead! We first opened the IceBar in 1998 followed by the Cool Room in 2001. We then turned the IceBar into The Beach in 2003.

"We had other ventures including Jack Rabbits Slims, The Bierhaus and The Cotton Club. Unfortunately covid has taken its toll on the hospitality trade and especially the nightclubs, therefore we have no choice but to say goodnight for now to The Beach & Cool Room.

"They will remain open with different owners, so all should be good, and we wish them all the very best. We will be closed this Friday (as it’s usually very quiet the night before New Years Eve) but we will be having our final HUGE PARTY on NYE.

"Doors open 10pm…Expect it to be a lockout. Wishing all our customers, too many to mention, a massive thank you for all the memories over the years.

"One last night to go, see you NYE."

Customers took to the comments section to share their memories of the club and thank the owners for their hard work.

Emma Davies said: "14 years ago I met the love of my life in The Beach / BamBudda. Fast forward 14 years...4 children, emigrated to NZ and have our own business...but we always remember where we first met."

Mikey Oneill said: "Sad to hear to hear this had some really good nights back in the day off the Ice Bar and Cool Rooms."

Sarah Thomas said: "The end of an era. I'm old enough to say I went when it was the Ice Bar too. So many good memories."

Kimberley Taylor said: "Wow best memories growing up worked there from when I was 17 till 27. From the Ice Bar to The Beach, and all the other places we had not he same anymore. Good luck to the new owners."
