Feb. 18--Casting complete. The Goodman Theatre filled in the remainder of its 2014-15 casting gaps on Wednesday.
Amidst the many new names, however, the theater announced one casting change. For its fast approaching production of August Wilson's "Two Trains Running," Terry Bellamy will take over for Ron OJ Parson in the role of Memphis. Parson has departed the production for "personal reasons," according to a spokeswoman for the theater.
Bellamy is joined by Alfred Wilson, A.C. Smith, Nambi E. Kelley, Ernest Perry Jr. Anthony Irons and Chester Gregory. Performances begin March 7 and continue through April 12 in the Albert Theatre.
"The Upstairs Concierge," the new play from Kristoffer Diaz, writer of "The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity," adds to its ranks Theo Allyn, Sandra Delgado, Alejandra Escalante, Jose Antonio Garcia, Annie Henk and Cedric Young. They join the previously announced Tawny Newsome, Gabriel Ruiz, John Stokvis and Travis Turner. "The Upstairs Concierge" begins performances March 28 and continues through April 26 in the Owen Theatre.
Lillian Hellman's drama, "The Little Foxes" will feature Michael Canavan, Rae Gray and Dan Waller. The cast also includes Shannon Cochran, Cherene Snow, Larry Yando, Mary Beth Fisher, Dexter Zollicoffer, John Judd and Steve Pickering. "The Little Foxes" begins performances on May 2 and continues through June 7 in the Albert Theatre.
The last production with a new face is "stop. reset." by Regina Taylor. Eugene Lee will join the cast as Ames. Alongside Lee are Jacqueline Williams. Eric Lynch, Tim Decker, Edgar Sanchez and Lisa Tejero. "stop. reset." begins performances May 23 and continues through June 21 in the Owen Theatre.
Casting for the Goodman's final show of the 2014-15 season, Christopher Durang's "Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike" remains the same: Ross Lehman, Janet Ulrich Brooks, Mary Beth Fisher, E. Faye Butler, Rebecca Buller and Jordan Brown.
