After weeks of Elf on the Shelf, it’s nearly time to say goodbye to the elves for another year as they reunite with Santa.
Before the elves head back to the North Pole on Christmas Eve, parents will have one more creative idea to come up with, and it’s arguably the most important one.
As the elves will be saying goodbye to children, you’ll want to think of something special to sign off another Christmas full of Elf on the Shelf fun.

Your elf may choose to leave a letter to bid farewell to the children, but what should you include in it?
You can type the letter on your computer or laptop and print it out, or to make it more personal you can write it by hand. Remember to change your handwriting!
The letter can include whatever you fancy, but it’s nice to get a few personal touches in there, such as how much the elf enjoyed the child’s reaction to a particular cheeky activity the elf did.
You can also say how proud the elf is of your child if they’ve behaved well throughout December.
It’s a good idea to explain in the letter why the elf is leaving and that it’s not something to be sad about as the elf will be back next year.
Your child should receive the letter on Christmas Eve, as the elves are picked up by Santa that night when he delivers the child their Christmas presents.
If you’re giving your child a Christmas Eve box, you could put the elf's goodbye letter in there.
Another idea is having the elf prepare a goodbye breakfast for the child on Christmas Eve morning before they have to return to the North Pole that night. You can dress the elf up as a chef and they can hand over their letter then.
