I’m 26 and from Birmingham – a very nice part of Britain. I love adventuring, cycling, Manchester City football club and stealth camping – which is camping in places which are a bit forbidden.
I’ve just returned from cycling the Pamir highway from Tajikistan to China. It was unbelievable. Having travelled a fair bit, I would say the people I met were among the kindest and most hospitable people I have ever come across. I think the west could learn so much from this kind of attitude. So many people went out of their way to help – they would come up to us and take us into their homes, which is a lovely thing.
I have been working for a company called Outlook, which organises outdoor activities with children – I went to Africa this year and India is lined up for next year.
I choose to buy the Guardian over other newspapers – apart from the Manchester Evening News – and always start by reading the football. I do think it has an excellent sports section – far superior to its competitors. I really enjoy the Travel section in the Guardian, but having done this trip I think it could perhaps focus on the types of people in different places as well as the destination. I buy the newspaper for the G2 section – I love it for the alternative take on the mainstream news.
At present my plans are unsure but I may be going to work in the Lake District for a short time. I used to love going there with my dad and it will be nice to return.
