I'm 31 and grew up in Kent and studied journalism at Cardiff. After university I travelled by myself and worked abroad for six years, spending a significant part of this in New Zealand, which had a huge influence on who I am now.
I live in London where life is much busier and I am now on a new mission to protect Saturdays! The Guardian Saturday newspaper is a big part of this, as the articles gently forces me to sit down, be still and focus. I secretly hoard the Cook supplement – in the hope that during my protected Saturdays I will find the time to cook one of the many recipes.
I am deeply passionate about my job with the Movember Foundation, as it is about having fun as well as raising awareness. Movember brings back the moustache for 30 days and uses this challenge to spark conversations about men's health. It starts of as something fun and a bit novel but there is an incredible depth behind it when you look at the research and the developments being made into men's health.
Men have a life expectancy of almost four years less than women. Why is this? Why do men and women use health services differently? Movember works with initiatives and projects that look at the language used to engage men.
The Guardian is my newspaper of choice but I do think they could improve the seemingly formulaic travel section – the world is such an amazing place and it would be great to see a more imaginative approach to travel writing.
