Good Samaritans rushed to aid of man who was attacked by gang of three at top of Leith Walk

A man was rushed to hospital after being violently attacked by a gang of three near the top of Leith Walk.

The 47-year-old was assaulted by three men while walking on Baxter's Place, close to the junction with London Road, at around 3.30am on Tuesday, 14 January.

Police are now looking to trace two people who rushed to the aid of the victim as they think they might be able to help with their investigation.

The attack left the victim with "serious injuries" and requiring hospital treatment.

Detective sergeant Iona Cory said: "The man suffered serious injuries as a result of the assault and required hospital treatment.

"We have carried out enquiries and have established that a man and a woman came to the assistance of the victim and we would like to speak with them.

"Were you in the area and helped the victim, if so please get in touch on 101 quoting 2468 of 16 January, 2020."
