'Good option' - Newcastle fans send clear message amid talk of a Valentino Lazaro return

Newcastle United fans have been clear in their message that they would like to see former loanee Valentino Lazaro return to the club this summer.

Chronicle Live revealed on Sunday morning that the former Magpies winger is set to be offered to United and their Premier League rivals this summer.

And sources close to the player have indicated he is "open" to a possible comeback with Newcastle next season.

Steve Bruce is looking at the centre-back and central midfield areas as his priority in the summer transfer window, but there could be potential for a loan deal with a view to a permanent deal as Inter Milan look to get Lazaro game-time once again.

The Austria international will go on holiday after they were eliminated by Italy at EURO 2020 on Saturday evening before returning to pre-season with the Serie A champions.

The 25-year-old spent last season on loan with Borussia Monchengladbach where he picked up Bundesliga and Champions League experience.

Lazaro made 15 appearances for Newcastle during a half-season loan spell in the 2019/20 campaign, scoring twice, but many fans felt he wasn't given enough of an opportunity to assert himself at St James' Park.

So amid talk of a potential return to Tyneside, the majority of Magpies fans on social media would welcome a return for Lazaro to the club.

David Baty tweeted: "I’d take Lazaro back he’s good option at rwb or as an attacking player further forward."

Another Twitter user, 'Koba', added: "As long as it's a cheap option, low wages. Very talented but hasn't shown the consistency needed at the top level. Could be a good alternative for ASM when he inevitably gets kicked out of games by the opposition."

However, Simon seemed to be in the minority as he asked: "Why? Do we need someone else to not fit into the team?"
