Good news! Weather set to improve with highs of 19°C and sun this weekend

Sunny spells and warm temperatures are on the way to the North East after torrential rain yesterday.

After some continuing rain on Friday afternoon, things are set to perk up for the weekend and it will hopefully stay dry.

The highest temperatures are predicted to be around 19°C and sun is expected to break through the clouds.

Nicola Maxey from the Met Office told us what to expect in the region.

Friday

"It will be a fairly cloudy day with some chance of heavy rain around lunchtime.

"There still may be some patchy sunshine.

"Temperatures will reach highs of around 18/ 19°C."

Saturday

"It's an improving picture both with the temperatures and weather.

"It will start off a bit cloudy but with some sunny intervals.

"Temperatures are set to be around 17/18°C."

A sunny Saltwell Park, Gateshead

Sunday

"Again it will start off cloudy but there'll be plenty of sunshine breaking through around lunchtime and into the early evening.

"It will be a very pleasant day. It will be quite a dry and sunny weekend for most of the country.

"Temperatures will be higher than Saturday at around 18/19°C."
