IT would be impossible (for me, at least) to write this newsletter for June without leading it on the Tartan Army.
Sure, Scotland was knocked out of the World Cup in the group stage. But we have left the tournament a nation enhanced reputationally. And it is all thanks to the Scotland fans and their antics in the US.
Don’t just take it from me, check out some of the headlines we ran last month:
- Planes from Scotland 'running out of beer' as Tartan Army arrive in US
- 'Extremely cool' Scots are interested in Haiti, says Haitian writer
- Tartan Army to make $30k donation to charity
- Scots praised by Boston council for clean up

- Scots are the proudest of their national football team, new poll finds
- Multi-million-pound boost as 500,000 extra pints expected to be sold
- Hundreds of Americans gather to drink Irn-Bru
- Tartan Army bring Glasgow tradition to Boston

- US charity donates $5000 to Glasgow Children’s Hospital
- Scotland fan who went viral gets his own HelloFresh dish
- Glasgow and Boston to be twinned cities
Not only did we bring joy to Boston, Miami and across the world. But we did so whilst raising money from charity and cleaning up after ourselves.
Let alone the economic benefit! Afterall, Glasgow and Boston have already been twinned and there is expected to be a huge influx of tourists as a result.
Moving on to other great news from June, I was delighted to see that Bass Rock and Craigleith islands are now in charitable ownership for the first time in 320 years in a bid to safeguard their “awe-inspiring” seabird colonies.
It is so key that our natural and wildlife heritage is well kept and run. I would recommend a boat trip to Bass Rock to anyone – simply stunning.
Meanwhile, it was also exciting to see a huge infrastructure project getting the green light – particularly if you’re from Scotland’s most northerly islands.
And by that I mean that major plans to introduce a network of subsea tunnels between Shetland's islands have been approved by councillors.
That is it from me for June, wishing you all a beautiful summer!
