'Good news, announce Atal!' - Tottenham fans react as extent of Juan Foyth injury is revealed

Confirmation of Juan Foyth being ruled out of action until September has brought about a huge response from Tottenham Hotspur fans.

The Argentina international, who cut short his holiday after featuring in this summer's Copa America tournament, returned to action in the Audi Cup win over Real Madrid and was then a substitute against Bayern Munich.

However, Foyth left the pitch against the Bundesliga champions on a stretcher having injured his ankle.

Mauricio Pochettino provided an update on Foyth when speaking after the pre-season penalty shoot-out defeat against Inter Milan on Sunday afternoon and he didn't sound too positive.

"With Juan I think the medical staff are going to update in the next few days," he told reporters. "I cannot say more because I don't know exactly how much time.

"For sure it's a tough injury and for sure it is many weeks he is going to be out. We hope he can recover as soon as possible."

The Spurs boss' fears were confirmed on Monday evening when it was confirmed Foyth has sustained a lateral ligament injury.

An official statement via the club's official website reads.

"After undergoing assessment over the past few days, we can confirm that Juan Foyth has sustained a lateral ligament injury to his left ankle following a challenge in our Audi Cup match against Bayern Munich.

"The Argentina international, who will miss the opening two games of the season due to suspension, will now undergo a period of rehabilitation and is expected to return to training in September."

With some supporters expecting the very worst, it's a relief that Foyth won't be out of action for too long.
