Dear readers,
The American comedian Tracy Morgan once said that “bad news travels at the speed of light; good news travels like molasses.” He’s right. And few people see the truth of that statement as clearly as your team at inkl does.
Everyday at inkl we track thousands of breaking news stories from the best sources around the world. Unfortunately most of these stories tend to be sad or worrying. They talk of war, of misfortune, of wrongdoing. And yet… they are important. After all we made inkl to ensure that you got to see these stories, to understand them, and to make choices and changes that could lead to better future outcomes.
But we live in the present, not the future. And in the present these stories feed a growing cynicism. A rising anger. A flailing sense of frustration with the world. So we started thinking… maybe the prevailing view is just ONE way to see the world, and not the only way. Flowers still bloom, babies are born, and great things happen everyday. What if we showed you more of these positive news stories?
So, starting immediately, we’re going to scour the news for stories that are uplifting, positive, and inspiring. And we’re going to show you these stories in a new section imaginatively called “Good News”. Good News will appear right after the “Editors’ picks” section on inkl.
Our hope is that this new section will balance the news cycle by showing you stories about innovation and advancement, about happy outcomes through happenstance or design, and about the best aspects of what it means to be alive now.
Like all experiments at inkl, we'll see how this one goes and make a final call in a few weeks on whether to keep it going. We certainly hope you like it and that you’ll tell us what you think either way.
