Good Morning Britain viewers slam ‘toe curling’ interview with Mickey Rourke

If there’s one thing that live TV shows don’t like, it’s dead air.

And today there was barely anything else of note during an interview with Mickey Rouke on Good Morning Britain.

It was so bad, viewers of the ITV show were left cringing over their breakfast during the chat with the Hollywood actor.

The 66-year-old appeared on the programme via video link to speak to co-hosts Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid about his new film - but it was not easy viewing.

Sat with one of his little dogs on his lap and showing off his tattoos in an unbuttoned shirt, Mickey painstakingly took ages to answer questions and didn’t exactly look too happy about appearing on the ITV show.

At one point Piers asked him how it felt to be back on top following his appearance in film The Wrestler, after a long pause, Mickey attempted to answer in a convoluted way, and Piers had to stop him and try to hurry him along.

Looking uncomfortable and at times a little bored, Mickey even seemed to lose concentration as Susanna asked him about his new movie Night Walk.

“What movie?” he enquired.

So many viewers of the show took to Twitter to speak of their shock that Mickey Rourke began trending.

One said: “I wondered why Mickey Rourke was trending and after catching his toe-curling #GMB interview, now I know.”

Another said: “Mickey Rourke on #GMB that was an odd interview.”

A third said: “Dullest @GMB interview yet with Mickey Rourke... what a struggle for Piers & Susanna.”

A fourth added: “Mickey Rourke he's only started talking and it's a car crash.”

But some were concerned about Mickey’s welfare.

“Is Mickey Rourke okay? Seemed to be struggling in that interview,” said one.

GMB airs weekdays from 6am on ITV.
