Good Morning Britain viewers slam Richard Madeley for 'creepy' comment to Lionesses' Alessia Russo

Good Morning Britain viewers blasted Richard Madeley's "misogynistic" comments to Alessia Russo after he pretended to be her father.

English footballer Alessia Russo joined Good Morning Britain to discuss the team's incredible win at the Women's Euros. Yesterday, her fellow player Chloe Kelly was on the show but both were met with interesting comments by presenter Richard Madeley.

On both occasions, Richard resorted to pretending both footballers were a part of his family and he was their father. Yesterday, he called Chloe "Coco", a nickname he has given his own daughter. Though Chloe didn't directly respond, she stared blankly at the presenter as he wrapped up their segment.

During this morning's show, only a few moments into the interview, Richard said: "How are you feeling? It's three days on now. If I was your dad and asked you that, how are you feeling love, what would you say?"

The comments didn't go unnoticed by viewers who called Richard "misogynistic" and even called for him to be banned from interviewing women. One viewer said: "Richard Madeley talking to Women's footballers, is one of the most cringe things on TV. I feel for these ladies having to discuss a huge moment in their lives, with this clueless, patronising numpty."

Another added: "Richard Madeley just said to Alessia Russo, "how you feeling love"? Good grief! How inappropriate."

A third viewer said: "Called Chloe Kelly "Coco" yesterday because that's what he calls his daughter & now this. Literally the worst guy to be presenting GMB, especially after what the Lionesses have done."

A final comment added: "Do #gmb advertisers endorse the misogynistic Richard Madeley patronising these women footballers?"

Richard has often come under fire for his comments on GMB specifically for talking over guests and having left-field comments away from topics.
