Good Morning Britain viewers left confused by Little Mix star Perrie Edwards' accent

TV viewers were flummoxed when a pop star appeared to lose her Geordie accent on the box.

Little Mix star Perrie Edwards appeared on Good Morning Britain from her home due to the coronavirus lockdown.

But when she spoke to hosts Ben Shepherd and Lorraine Kelly, she appeared to lose her native North East twang.

Perrie was speaking from home as she and her footballer boyfriend, Liverpool and England star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, socially distance themselves.

The pair went viral last weekend as they livened up their time indoors with a TikTok video which has since been copied by millions of people.

The 26-year-old singer spoke about how Alex is coping with the Premier League being postponed, and Little Mix's new single.

But while she gave an entertaining interview, it was her accent which had many people talking, mainly down to it having changed dramatically, Chronicle Live reports.

One viewer tweeted: "Where is Perrie Edwards Geordie accent gone? Is it in isolation?"

Referencing other Geordie celebs who've 'lost' their accents, another reacted: "Hahahhaah state of Perrie Edwards accent, another one to add to the Michelle Bass, Donna Air, Robson Green, Sting back catalogue."

It is worth remembering Perrie isn't technically a Geordie.

Hailing from South Shields, she is a proud Sanddancer. (a person from South Shields)

So perhaps lost in self isolation may have caused a loss in translation.
