Man dumped before wedding proposes to same girl on GMB - and viewers say it's cringe

Good Morning Britain viewers brutally savaged a live proposal on the programme this morning, branding it the "cringiest thing ever".

A man dubbed 'Jilted John' decided to propose to his girlfriend Amy live on the ITV programme today - three years after she dumped him just before they were due to wed.

Amy broke up with John just five weeks before their wedding because she felt like they were moving too fast.

John stepped into the media spotlight after revealing he had an extra around-the-world ticket after being jilted and was raffling it off.

After going on the trip with his new mate, he ended up rekindling his romance with Amy three years later.

Today, he decided to propose live on air and was helped by GMB to set the scene in a cafe.

When he left his table with Amy to head to the back, he clipped on a mic as the other people in the cafe began to sing, leaving her stunned.

He eventually returned to his girlfriend and got down on one knee.

Thankfully she said yes and John was overwhelmingly relieved.

"All morning I've been trying to act normal," he said. "I was so nervous, I couldn't sleep at all last night."

But viewers weren't too impressed and were left cringing in front of their cereal.

One joked: "Nothing says romance like proposing over an egg butty #gmb."

While another commented: "That was cringetastic #JiltedJohn #gmb."

A third remarked: "This Jilted John proposal is a cringe fest. Almost enough to put me off my breakfast. #gmb."

Another wrote: "Omg the #jiltedjohn thing on #gmb can’t cope I’m cringing so hard!"

"Cringey as f***!" one commented.
