Good Morning Britain stars say their farewells as they announce break from show

Adil Ray and Charlotte Hawkins said their farewell to viewers as they announced a break from Good Morning Britain.

The pair confirmed today would be their last day before Christmas as they bid goodbye to viewers at the end of today's edition of the ITV show. Whilst Charlotte confirmed she'd be back very soon, Adil said his break would be a bit longer.

On today's show, Charlotte and Adil wrapped up the final parts of the programme following an interview with Tim Rice before talk turned to the festive season and when viewers might expect to see them back on their screen.

As the show ended, Charlotte announced it was her and Adil's last day. Whilst she confirmed she'd be back in the week between Christmas and New Year, Adil confirmed he'd be off air for a little longer - but he would still be presenting his show Lingo.

Charlotte has to be up at 3am when she's appearing on the ITV breakfast show - but her husband has given her some strict rules

"I used to tell my husband, ‘You know, some people would get up and make their partner a little cup of coffee or breakfast first thing in the morning,’ and he’d be like, ‘There’s no way I’m getting up at 3am to make you a cup of tea!'" she told The Mirror.

"I’ve been given strict instructions to creep out as quietly as possible [in the morning when I have work]. And I have the bedtime of a seven-year-old – I go to bed at the same time as my daughter!"

Charlotte's daughter is also keen to follow in her mum's footsteps - and loves interviewing.

"She was so excited because she absolutely loves him, and I sent a message to his team and said, ‘If she could have a photo of him or just say hi, that would make her day.’ And they were like, ‘Would she like to ask him a question?'" she said of her meeting George Ezra.

The pair announced their brief break (ITV)

"When I asked her, she was absolutely thrilled, and she proceeded to draw up a whole document of interview questions that she wanted to put to him. So it was very much all her own questions."

She added: "She did a brilliant job interviewing George. And how lovely was it that he kind of came to life answering her questions."
