Good Morning Britain's Susanna Reid sends emotional message to Kate Garraway's husband as he battles coronavirus

Susanna Reid sent an emotional message to Kate Garraway's husband on this morning's episode of Good Morning Britain as he continues to battle coronavirus in intensive care.

The news has hit fellow presenters Susanna and fellow presenter Piers Morgan hard after Garraway's representatives confirmed the news on Friday (April 3).

The former I'm A Celeb contestant has not been allowed to visit her husband in hospital to reduce the risk of spreading the virus, Hull Live reports.

Speaking on the show this morning, Reid said: "Before we carry on, I know I speak for all of our team and all of our viewers when we send our love to Kate Garraway and her husband Derek Draper.

"We send him every ounce of strength as he recovers from coronavirus and love to her family.

"We thank all the NHS workers working so hard at the moment treating those who are suffering the virus."

Derek was admitted to hospital on March 30 and continues to be treated. Kate herself has been showing mild symptoms and is in strict isolation as a result, her representatives have confirmed.

Piers Morgan also sent his own message of support. He said: "It's coming home to everyone, everyone's been touched by this… this is something that affects all of us around the world. we've never had anything like this.

"It's agonising for everybody involved.

"We wish everybody the best, fingers crossed everything turns out ok."

A rep for Kate said: "Kate's husband, Derek Draper, has been taken to hospital and is being treated in intensive care with a confirmed case of COVID-19.

"He was admitted on Monday and has since tested positive for the virus. Kate, hasn't been tested, however she has also been displaying mild symptoms, also since Monday, and as a result has been on strict isolation with her children at home."
