Good Morning Britain's Susanna Reid questions different rules for Prince Andrew and Prince Harry

Susanna Reid has questioned why Prince Andrew should be allowed to wear military regalia during the period of mourning for the Queen, when Prince Harry has categorically been told he cannot.

Members of the Royal Family are now gearing up for the sad but very public occasion of Her Majesty's state funeral on Monday, September 19, which will be held at Westminster Abbey and be broadcast to viewers across the world. There were very moving scenes on Monday afternoon when Prince Andrew, Duke of York, joined his three siblings: King Charles III, Princess Anne, the Princess Royal and Prince Edward, the Earl of Wessex at a thanksgiving service for their late mother in Edinburgh.

After walking behind Her Majesty' s coffin through the streets of the Scottish capital to St Giles' Cathedral for the service, the four children of the much loved monarch kept a 10 minute vigil by her side, looking visibly moved as the heartbreaking moment was captured by TV cameras.

As the Royal party made their way to the service, one onlooker was pulled away by police for making a derogatory comment about Prince Andrew, meaning many people have once again had an opinion on the Duke, given his association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Prince Andrew is no longer a working member of the Royal Family, after was stripped of his royal patronages and military affiliations and neither is Prince Harry, following his and wife Meghan Markle's move to America.

Former Royal Navy office Andrew had his military medals on in Edinburgh on Monday, pinned onto a morning coat and is expected to wear uniform for the upcoming vigil in Westminster.

But, picking up on the fact that Prince Harry has been told he can't wear military uniform at any time during the mourning period for his grandmother, Susanna questioned Royal biographer Hugo Vickers why that was the case as he appeared as a guest in the GMB studio on Tuesday.

She asked him: "Why has Prince Harry been told he cannot, in any stage of this process, wear any military uniform or outfit?"

Hugo told her: "Assuming that to be the case, because things can change, we must remember that he was given to hold into his various positions for a year and decide what he wanted to do. After that he decided to stay on in California and know, you can't be Captain General of the Royal Marines if you're living in California and you're a guy in blue jeans basically. You can't do both, you need to be visible, you need to be there."

Susanna asked: "Was the Duke of York not stripped of his military titles?" Hugh told her: "He certainly won't be wearing Grenadier Guards' uniform, that's for certain, "adding that Andrew will presumably wear a naval uniform.

As Susanna's co-host Ben questioned why Prince Andrew had been "given special dispensation" for the funeral itself, Hugh said that it was "best to see what happens."
