Good Morning Britain's Susanna Reid left red-faced after awkward name blunder

Susanna Reid was left red-faced during today's episode of Good Morning Britain.

The 50-year-old news anchor was joined by Ben Shephard for Wednesday's edition of the ITV news programme.

They spoke to commentators Andrew Pierce and Kevin Maguire about the latest headlines, including Boris Johnson's announcement he is set to raise National Insurance to fund social care reforms.

The Mirror and Daily Mail journalists clashed while debating who could become the Secretary of State for Education in the proposed cabinet reshuffle.

Andrew Pierce said Liz Truss is reportedly being lined up for the position - which was slammed by Kevin Maguire.

He said: "Truss is a show-pony, she likes to trot around starting culture wars."

The Mail columnist blasted the remarks as 'sexist' - before Susanna Reid stepped in to throw another name in the hat.

She questioned: "What about Amanda Millman?"

Susanna was corrected as she meant Chairperson of the Conservative Party Amanda Milling.

Kevin Maguire joked: "You got the Amanda bit right."

The presenter quickly apologised - and looked mortified after the name mistake..

She said: "Sorry, I'm getting there, halfway. I wouldn't pass an exam in who the Tory chairman is, would I?"

Her co-host Ben Shephard laughed off the comment and joked it should be excused as its still early in the morning.

He laughed: "It's early. Another coffee for Reid."

*Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV and ITVHub
