Good Morning Britain's Susanna Reid lashes out at 'rude' Alastair Campbell in fiery TV row

Susanna Reid lashed out at Alastair Campbell in a fraught clash on Tuesday's Good Morning Britain, after her one-time co-host 'rudely' interrupted a guest.

Former Downing Street press secretary Alastair joined Susanna and GMB colleague, former politician Ed Balls in the ITV studio as they and House of Lords peer Baroness Sayeeda Warsi about new Channel 4 series Make Me A Prime Minister as budding PMs finding out what it really takes to be the leader of the country. Alastair quipped: 'If Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak had been going through the programme at the time, they would not have made the final."

Addressing the fact that she and the former Labour spokesperson had already had a war of words on numerous occasions, Sayeeda explained: "One of the things we argue about both on screen and off screen is, he keeps telling me how bad my party is, how many mistakes they’re making.

“Of course they’re making mistakes – the fact that we had to get rid of Boris Johnson meant that a huge amount of mistakes were made. But I keep saying this to him and to the Labour party: you’re still not winning.."

Not backing down, the former Cabinet Minister added: "So clearly whatever you’re saying is not cutting through. The vision of Britain you’re presenting, people aren’t buying. Ultimately, you can’t just sit back and wait..." before not being given the opportunity to finish her point as Alastair interrupted her to reply: "“Part of the reason...."

However, just like he cut in before Sayeeda ended her statement, Susanna didn't give Alastair the opportunity to say his piece, telling him to "hang on." And, after Alastair didn't heed her warning, she shouted: "No, you just interrupted someone who hadn’t finished and then said, ‘Let me finish’. Why don’t we allow Baroness Warsi to finish?”

Having none of Susanna's protests, Alastair shot back; "Why don’t we allow you, Susanna, to make this about the Labour party when we came to talk about the TV programme?” He continued; "“The point I was going to make,” before Susanna again cut in, saying: “You literally just spoke over the person sitting next to you who hadn’t even finished.”

After Sayeeda said they'd "ad banter" in the past, Susanna told her: "“I don’t think you should concede your point, Baroness," before suggesting that the Baroness "felt sorry" for Alastair.
