Good Morning Britain's Susanna Reid responded to a guest's "ageist" comments on Thursday's show.
The 50-year-old broadcaster was joined by Ben Shepherd on Thursday's edition of the morning news programme.
In the opening segment of the show, they discussed the latest headlines with Michael Portillo and journalist Jenny Kleeman.

One of the topics debated was the video of Conservative welfare chief Therese Coffey singing '(I've had) The Time Of My Life' hours before cutting the £20-a-week benefit uplift.
Jenny Kleeman criticised the footage as a staged attempt to show "how fun" Conservative MPs are and added how she believes "the idea that anyone over the age of 35 likes going out to a nightclub is quite strange".
Former Tory politician Michael Portillo was outraged by the statement - and slammed the comments as "ageist".
He said: "Excuse me, how is ageism allowed on the television? I call you out Jenny for ageism.
"I just want to say that I have noticed that ageism is the last barrier. I am not going to have anti-ageist remarks about over 25s or over 65s."
Susanna Reid was similarly stunned by the comment - and said all adults should feel comfortable going to nightclubs.
She said: "I defend the right of anyone over 35 - and indeed anyone over 50 - to continue to dance at nightclubs."
Kate Garraway added: "Don't you think the idea is that older people don't do it very well - so I'd also like to defend the right to dance even if you're not a very good dancer."
And viewers of the show on Twitter also took to the social media platform to have their say on the comments.
Missie said: "I am in my 40s and still love a good club night or music event."
Jenna added: "OMG did I just hear. 35 is not too old to have fun. I'm 40 go to a working men's club and a lot of them are pensioners and there's more partying in that pub than a lot of the others on a Saturday night."
Another user commented: "Dancing is an expression its not about being a great dancer #GMB anyone of any age should be able to go out let their down if they want can we stop judging I'm sick of it."
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV and ITVHub
