Good Morning Britain's Susanna Reid back in the studio as co-star replaced

After her moving coverage of the impact of the Ukranian conflict a day earlier, Susanna Reid was back in the Good Morning Britain studio on Tuesday, but not alongside the co-presenter many viewers were expecting.

On Sunday, Susanna took to Twitter to reveal that she'd headed to Poland to present the ITV show live from the Polish-Ukrainian border live. Her coverage saw her broadcast from a refugee centre as she looked down the lens and said: "'The most heartbreaking sight here is the kids. They've seen things they shouldn't see.. The centre here is trying to help; their football in the corridors, there's art classes, there's face painting. But frankly the kids shouldn't have had to leave their homes."

Susanna's coverage also featuring a touching interview with Amelia, the little Ukranian girl who went viral thanks to a video of her singing Let it Go from Frozen in a Kyiv bomb shelter. Susanna spoke about her experiences in eastern Europe, as well as interviewing more of those affected by the Russian invasion, as she was back in the more familiar surroundings of the GMB studio just a day later. But, while she was behind the presenters' desk, Richard Madeley was nowhere to be seen.

The former This Morning star held the fort in the studio on Monday in Susanna's absence, but Richard was replaced by Ed Balls, in a move that was welcomed by plenty of ITV viewers on social media. One took to Twitter to post: "Brilliant to see Ed Balls back on our screens, someone who is humble, down to earth and not trying to blow his own trumpet unlike Richard bacon and Adil Ray."

Clearly another big fan of the Ed and Susanna partnership, another reacted: "I have to say this morning's show has been excellent, news, laughter, sadness...what a morning show should be, great team with top presenters today...keep up the good work," with a third posting: "Love Ed Balls - didn’t realise he was on."

Others weren't as impressed, with a critic blasting: "Why does ed balls get a gmb presenters job? He has no clue how to do the job," and equally unimpressed, another tweeted: "Man alive, Ed Balls is terrible on #GMB @GMB he just doesn't get any better."
