Good Morning Britain's Susanna Reid apologises to Johnny Rotten over Eurovision remark

Susanna Reid apologised to John Lydon on Good Morning Britain.

The 52-year-old fronted Monday's edition of the ITV news programme alongside Ed Balls. The two interviewed the Sex Pistols frontman, also known as Johnny Rotten, as he continues his bid to compete on this year's Eurovision.

The international music extravaganza is set to to take place in Liverpool from May 9 to May 13. The Public Image Ltd singer is aiming to represent Ireland in this year's contest.

Susanna started her interview with an apology after she claimed he has never watched Eurovision. The broadcaster was in hysterics as she added: "I understand I defamed you by saying you never watched Eurovision. I'm so sorry you are a massive Eurovision fan. You love it."

Johnny shot back: "Are you trying to get me booted out before I even begin? I think everybody has been brought up by it. It was one of the highlights of TV in my youth where you would sit around with the family. It's part of the culture. "

The 66-year-old has written a song called Hawaii, which is dedicated to his wife, Nora Forster, and her battle with dementia. The singer fought back tears as he discussed her health battle.

He said: "I'm bringing awareness to Alzheimer's. That's a win, and a win, and a win, because that is such a debilitating thing to watch my wife suffer and have to go through, and more power to the Irish for giving me the respect here."

He added: "It brings tears to my eyes just even thinking about performing it live, because I'll be away from her, but I've got to do that."
