Good Morning Britain's Richard Madeley under fire over Covid comments on LIVE TV

Good Morning Britain host Richard Madeley has been hit by complaints after making the remark "we must learn to live with Covid " on TV.

Richard was accused by viewers of being 'privileged' after he took the stance on the show.

The host, who has often been compared to comedy character Alan Partridge, played by Steve Coogan for his outspoken views said: "Millions of people have been double vaccinated now. The majority of people have had the double vaccine.

"Yesterday 56 deaths happened - last year, the corresponding figure on the same date was just 18."

"What is happening here?"

Viewers were unimpressed by Richard's remark with one saying: "We’ve got to live with the virus’, states Richard Madeley, whilst sitting two metres away in a well-ventilated studio after being driven privately to work.

"If we are OK, stop your distancing and prove we are all ‘safe’. Privilege is getting harder to stomach at 7am."

Another said: "Is it time to live with covid" asks Richard Madeley, who doesn't even appear to understand that vaccination doesn't eliminate the risk of falling seriously ill or dying from it. The answer is NO. It is never "time" to live with government negligence."

Susanna Reid told Richard Madeley sensitivity was needed regarding deaths (ITV)

Someone else ventured: "Heart sinks when I see arrogant covidiot Tory Richard Madeley on @gmb - he's been campaigning against covid safety for months - damaging public health, encouraging people to break the rules, helping to spread covid & bump up the death rate. OFF SWITCH! #Shameful #GMB "

Richard was also told to be 'sensitive' by Susanna Reid on the show when referring to 'only 59 Covid deaths this year' when he said: "If I had a bell, I'd ring it because we've brought you so much bad news over these past few months because of these damn Covid statistics."
