Good Morning Britain viewers were left fuming at Richard Madeley as he “ruined” a huge surprise for a young Leeds United fan.
During Tuesday's episode of the ITV hit breakfast show Richard and co-host Susanna Reid were joined by eight-year-old Dylan and his parents as they discussed his viral clip of Leeds United football players appearing to ‘ignore’ him.
In the clip Dylan could be seen watching the players walk out of their hotel on their way to play Bournemouth. Many appear to walk straight by him without acknowledging him.
While on GMB, Dylan’s dad John cleared up any speculation they had been ignored. He said: “What you have got to remember is the video is just a tiny snapshot of what happened.”
Richard replied: “The angle at which they were standing just didn’t show the smiles. It looks to us from this one vantage point as if they’re completely blanking Dylan, but you’re saying that actually they were giving him a smile.”
John confirmed: “That’s not the case and if there were a couple of players in the zone, they were in the zone because of this match.” As the segment came to a close, Richard accidentally announced Dylan’s surprise a little to early.
He told him: “Leeds are offering Dylan, I’m sure you know this, travel to and from Leeds, what they call the mascot experience, which includes meeting the players in a much more controlled environment.”
Dylan and his family where left in shock and it was soon clear that they had no idea it was happening. Susanna interjected: “They didn’t know this!” Richard jumped in: “Well why did they tell me this then?”

Susanna was forced to explain: “This is all news! We’re announcing this to you now Dylan! So Leeds United have offered you a trip to Elland Road and you will be a mascot at a game.”
Viewers watching at home where left fuming at Richard as they insisted that he “ruined” Dylan's surprise. @AndyBulik Tweeted: “Richard Madeley f***** up a surprise for a little boy. Idiot #GMB.” @PrincessPKaur commented@ “Madeley just ruining the surprise for this little boy.”

@domain_harry fumed: “Amazing f*** up by richard there#gmb.” While @otterman62 added: “Whoever is responsible for that car crash ruining the surprise for Dylan, whether it’s the producer or Richard needs to go………..toe curling embarrassment.”
