Good Morning Britain's Kate Garraway pulls guest up on 'morning habit'

Kate Garraway pulled up a guest on his morning habit today's episode of Good Morning Britain.

The 54-year-old presenter was presenting Thursday's edition of the ITV news programme alongside Ben Shepherd.

In the opening segment of the show, they were joined by former Conservative MP Michael Portillo to discuss the latest headlines including Boris Johnson's climate change address to the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

However, the segment was stunted as Mr Portillo repeatedly stopped to clear his throat.

The broadcaster apologised for his 'morning habit' - but viewers took to Twitter to give the same advice of what he needed to do.

Charlotte said: "Somebody get Michael Portillo a glass of water."

Michael posted: "Michael there’s a glass of water in front of you. Have some."

@notonmytv added: "Someone get him a glass of water."

Tracy commented: "Just close off from Portillo for a minute & let him clear his throat. That cough every other word is driving me mad."

At Boris Johnson's address he called for the world to wake up to the threat of climate change - and insisted Kermit the Frog "was wrong" to say it isn't easy being green.

And Kate Garraway referenced the Prime Minister's remarks when she pulled up Michael Portillo on his 'morning habit.'

She said: "Let's talk to Dr Hilary and give you the chance to have a gulp of water to get rid of that Kermit the Frog in the throat."

*GMB continues at 6am on ITV and ITVHub tomorrow
