Good Morning Britain's Kate Garraway left embarrassed as phone alarm causes chaos

Kate Garraway was left mortified on Friday when her phone alarm went off on air, with her adamant that it wasn't hers.

Fresh from her appearance on new BBC show Walking With... earlier this week, the popular presenter was back on GMB duty on Friday and it didn't take her long to make her presence felt as her phone sounded within minutes of the show starting.

The first time it sounded, former I'm A Celebrity contestant Kate looked as puzzled as co-star Ben Shephard as to who's phone it was, shouting: "It isn't mine!"

Eventually, Kate found her phone underneath her on her seat, to which Ben quipped: "Is that the alarm to wake you up?"

An embarrassed Kate apologised for the mishap, only for her to be left red faced just five minutes later when it went off again, prompting her to explain: "My kids set the alarm!" adding: "Shall we just take the phone off set?"

In a bid to try and stop the alarm from sounding, a mask-clad producer walked onto set to try and help her out as Ben joked: "You're the only person whose phone goes off live in the studio!

Kate responded: "Where did I think I needed to be?"

Viewers were quick to react to the chaos, with one tweeting: "Ok…. Who else was searching for their phone when Kates alarm went off? I was!" and another posting: "Hilarious! So embarrassing when your phone goes off when it should be off or silent"

Not seeing the funny side, a third reacted: "Unprofessional shouldn't have phones on when presenting on national tv, especially when looking at them while working," but leaping to Kate's defence, another viewer replied: "Guys give @kategarraway a break. She’s at work, has a sick husband at home and has 2 teenage children.

"She needs to be available. It’s only the same as us having our phone ring in a meeting - it happens! I love how @benshephard and Kate laugh it off.

Earlier this week, Kate, 54, told her many Instagram followers that she'd slept in for her daily show on Smooth Radio. Posting as video of her speeding through London on the back of a motorbike, she said she was "feeling late but great," as she thanked her driver for putting his foot down.
