Good Morning Britain's Kate Garraway blown away at 'extraordinary' Derek revelation

Kate Garraway was blown away by a revelation on today's Good Morning Britain about her husband Derek.

The 54-year-old broadcaster was presenting Friday's edition of the ITV news programme alongside Ben Shepherd.

The two interviewed children's author Michael Rosen, who was promoting his new book, Sticky McStickstick.

The book is the beloved writer's first work since his battle against Coronavirus.

The 74-year-old was admitted to hospital and spent six weeks on a ventilator after contracting Covid last year.

His moving picture book is a tribute to the NHS and the walking stick he used that helped him on his journey to recovery.

The hopeful message of the story struck a chord with Kate, whose husband, Derek, is still continuing his fight against long-Covid.

She said: "It's not just for people recovering from Covid, it's a lovely way to approach the journey of recovery from anything"

And Kate was in disbelief at the top of the segment when Michael revealed he was treated just a few beds away from Derek in the same hospital.

The broadcaster gasped when she heard the news - which she described as "extraordinary".

Kate added: "It's a lovely comfort that you were next to Derek even though you couldn't speak to each other."

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV and ITVHub
