Good Morning Britain's Charlotte Hawkins takes swipe at Piers Morgan on air

Good Morning Britain newsreader Charlotte Hawkins hilariously took aim at Piers Morgan, with the help of the show’s director, live on the show on Wednesday.

The show appeared to be in chaos just as the ITV series came on air at 6am, hit by a technical fault.

As Piers went to host proceedings with Susanna Reid, he soon became aware of the fact he couldn’t actually hear anything going on behind-the-scenes.

Removing his ear piece, Piers admitted he couldn’t hear a thing with Susanna then trying it for herself.

Charlotte and the show's producer was quick to blame him for the blunder, sharing a little fact about his studio arrival ahead of transmission.

She said: “Yeah, the director is pointing out that if you got here more than 30 seconds before going on air it might work.”

Piers clearly wasn’t convinced by the comment, while adding he had no intention of arriving to the studio earlier than he felt he needed to.

Meanwhile, he and Susanna were fiddling about with the seemingly broken ear piece.

A producer backstage was forced to speak to the hosts on a speaker which played loudly on air, trying to work out what the issue was.

It’s then that Susanna and Piers both confirmed that nothing was being picked up through the instrument.

A member of the sound crew then came on to replace the piece to avoid “chaos”, with Piers finally able to hear what was going on.

The same person had to intervene on This Morning on Tuesday, due to another sound issue during a live interview.

This Morning guest Ant Middleton suffered a mic issue, with Phillip Schofield quick to help sort out the mishap.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
