Good Morning Britain's Charlotte Hawkins 'in tears' over ITV show director's exit

Charlotte Hawkins admitted that she was in tears today over her last show with Good Morning Britain director Erron Gordon.

It comes after he announced he was quitting in August after 13 years working with the channel.

In September, he revealed that he would be joining Piers Morgan on his new show.

This morning, Erron revealed it was his last show, tweeting with a video of Charlotte presenting: "It’s my last show with the legend and @GMB OG @CharlotteHawkns also @timcarrfm is floor managing as you can see here."

Hosting today, Charlotte confessed that she was emotional at the thought that it was his final show.

She said: "Let's find out what's happening with the weather. Now, morning to you, Laura [Tobin]. I have to say that I have a tear in my eye this morning.

Charlotte Hawkins admitted that she was in tears today over the GMB director's final show (ITV)

"It's a sad one because it's my last show with our fabulous director Erron who, as you know, is leaving this week. So, emotional here, but are you going to be able to cheer us up with the weather this morning?

"I will do my very best, Charlotte!" Laura replied.

Announcing the news in the summer, Erron tweeted: "Personal News, After 13 years at @ ITV and 7 as the Series Director of @GMB I am leaving the programme at the end of the year to take on an exciting new challenge.

"I’ve had an amazing time working with a brilliant team in front of and behind the camera and I am so proud of the programme I helped launch in 2014.

"I’ve had some incredible opportunities @ITV; launching @itvpeston, directing the prime time leaders debates, #LifeStories & exclusive interviews with @piersmorgan & President Trump as well as travelling the world. Not forgetting somehow getting a part in Bridget Jones Baby!"

Responding to his exit, Piers tweeted at the time: "The very best TV directors thrive off unpredictability, spontaneity & flying by the seat of their pants.

"Loved working with Erron because the more I tried to trip him up, the more he enjoyed it. A brilliant talent and ferociously loyal colleague & friend. Huge loss for @GMB."
