Within an hour of him being on screen, Good Morning Britain viewers were heralding Bill Turnbull as the show's 'best guest host to date' as he reunited with former BBC Breakfast co-star Susanna Reid.
Following on from Alastair Campbell joining the GMB presenting team for Mental Health Awareness Week and ahead of Richard Madeley getting a turn at the helm of the ITV show, former Strictly contestant Bill is joining Susanna for a stint this week.
It was Susanna who teased his arrival in an advert a few days ago, saying: "A long-standing on-screen partnership is a rare thing and next week I'm reunited with my old presenting partner.
"He swore never to do breakfast TV again...but I'm delighted to say he's changed his mind."
A very happy Susanna kicked off Monday's instalment of GMB by introducing Bill, saying “Welcome back to the programme Bill Turnbull," to which replied “Well I’m delighted beyond words to be here, it’s just fantastic and it’s been too long Susanna… more than a year.”
Susanna then joked: “You thought you’d been able to throw away your alarm clock… but you dragged it out of the bin, dusted it off…”
The pair discussed everything from yoga to the TV licence in the three hour show and viewers were full of praise for Bill, who was diagnosed with incurable prostate cancer in 2017, on social media.
One took to Twitter to write: "Top man. Class act. Especially after some of the dim wits you’ve had on board in the last few years. It’s been our pleasure to watch him once again with his air of authority in any discussion."
Equally impressed, a second tweeted: "How refreshing to have the professional reporter that is Bill Turnbull on GMB. He is a wonderful man. #Keepbillturnbull on!!" and a third reacted: "GMB must be getting the message ! with Bill Turnbull on ,great to see Bill back ! one of the best Newscasters ever"
Another fan commented: "Bill Turnbull the best of guest presenters to date."
