Ben's tears were prompted by the thrilling gold medal winning performance from Team GB sailors Dylan Fletcher and Stuart Bithell
He said: "The sailing final honestly was the most breath-taking thing I've ever seen."
Kate said even she joined in with the screaming and joked Ben's tears were "not her fault for once."
Team GB's Olympic success dominated the show as the duo interviewed the athletes who have contributed to Britain's impressive 39 medal haul at the Tokyo games.
They interviewed Bethany Shriever who won a gold medal in the women's BMX later in the show - and Ben also revealed he had been overwhelmed by her triumph.
He said: "I can't tell how gripped me and my family were watching you in that race.
"You sent me way over my Tipping Point when you won by the way. I was in absolute bits."
The 22-year-old responded to say she she couldn't believe the presenters were watching her triumphant performance.
She said: "Ben I watch you on Tipping Point everyday after training. That's absolutely insane.
Kate Garraway said: "You'll be on the Celebrity Tipping Point soon."
