Good Morning Britain's Ben Shephard confesses to forgetting face mask when out and about

Ben Shephard has honestly shared on forgetting his face mask during a dash to the petrol station.

The Good Morning Britain host, 45, admitted that he sometimes struggles to remember to pick up a protective face covering when leaving home and said that he recently had to apologise to petrol station staff after filling up his car.

The star told that he did not realise he had entered the venue sans mask until he got to the till.

Upon noticing the blunder he used his jumper to cover his mouth and confessed he was "very apologetic" to the staff.

After Ben's admission Dr Hilary also came clean about his own mask faux pas.

Sharing on forgetting to cover his face, he told how he went to a chemist to collect a prescription for a patient.

"I suddenly noticed I had forgotten my mask," he said.

The medical professional added: "I said 'I do apologise' and the chemist said don’t worry."

Revealing that it is easy to forget a mask, he said: "We all have to be vigilant but it happens to everyone."

On Thursday, Dr Hilary Jones explained the terrifying figures that one in 60 of us currently have Covid-19.

He has called for another national lockdown as he warns "half measures" will do nothing to control the virus.

Host Charlotte Hawkins said: "It's not good news, stark warnings from scientists that up to 100,000 people a day are catching it.

"This worst case scenario, up to 85,000 could die in the second wave, it could be more deadly than the first?"

Dr Hilary replied: "The study is pretty significant, it shows that 1.28% of the population have got the virus at the moment, that's nearly one in 60 people in the population.

"And the number is doubling every nine days, so we are heading towards very large numbers of cases.

"That's likely to translate into more hospital admissions and higher mortality, inevitably.

"In Germany, where they have had far fewer deaths, they are going into another lockdown very soon, ans the same in France, they have got brutal numbers of cases, they are going into lockdown as well.

"We have got this dilemma, do we put the health of the population first, or do we consider the economy and balance what we do?

"The problem with the  coronavirus  is if you only instigate half measures, you don't control the virus at all."

He added: "It's a really difficult decision for the government to make, however, we are seeing larger numbers of cases.

"We are seeing greater hospitalisations, ITU's are getting busy.

"Let's not forget the 630 healthcare workers who lost their lives at the beginning of this year fighting coronavirus and looking after patients."
