Adil Ray made a return to Good Morning Britain on Thursday morning and appeared to make an awkward nod to Piers Morgan's dramatic exit.
The host appeared alongside Susanna Reid with viewers noticing his clear reference to an incident earlier this month that saw Piers Morgan quit the show.
During a debate around Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's interview with Oprah Winfrey, Piers clashed with co-star Alex Beresford over his comments about the Duchess of Sussex.
Piers stormed offset on-air in a move that divided viewers and he announced his exit from the ITV show just hours later, the Mirror reports.
A full-time replacement has yet to be confirmed for the host, while Adil took to the presenter's seat on Thursday morning after some time away.
As the show began, he immediately appeared to reference Piers' exit and all the GMB drama before laughing.
Co-host Susanna laughed it off before immediately moving the conversation on, while Piers' exit and everything that happened was not specifically mentioned.
It was clear what Adil was referring to though when he said sarcastically: "Great to be back. Have I missed anything?"
Susanna stared awkwardly at the camera and said: "Erm, a few things..."
Adil then joked: "Oh okay," before pulling a face and laughing off the comment as Susanna carried on with the latest news.
The moment didn't go unnoticed by some viewers tuning in to the early morning episode, with comments soon making their way onto Twitter.
One fan said: "Can't decide which was funnier... Adil asking if he's missed anything.. or the awkward response from Susanna."
A second said: "Adil speaks before he thinks..."
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
