Good Morning Britain ratings slump by a million after Piers Morgan's exit

Good Morning Britain’s viewership has dropped by more than one million after Piers Morgan’s exit.

The former host dramatically exited the morning show last month following a row about Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.

Since then, the ITV show ratings dropped to 0.86 million viewers during the last five minutes of the show.

Yesterday’s episode was presented by Adil Ray and Kate Garraway.

BBC Breakfast, its long-time rival, has succeeded in gaining viewers and managed more than two million on Bank Holiday Monday whereas GMB hit a whopping 1.89 million viewers the day Piers walked off set after a stinging row with Alex Beresford over Meghan Markle.

The star left later that day and refused to apologise for the comments he made regarding the Oprah interview.

ITV have yet to announce a replacement for Piers, but instead, a variety of presenters have been hosting the show, including Adil, Ben Shephard and Alex.

Piers recently opened up about the moment he stormed off and revealed he regretted doing it.

Speaking to US TV host Tucker Carlson on streaming service Fox Nation, the former GMB host spoke out in his first televised interview since his exit from the show.

Discussing the backlash over Meghan, his feelings towards colleague Alex and what he plans to do next, Piers had his say.

Piers explained that he "shouldn't have left his seat", while also accusing Alex of unleashing a "premeditated" attack.

He said: "I was angry because I could feel that there was this growing sense of if you didn't believe Meghan on everything she said, then you were the problem you were the racist, couldn't possibly be that she was lying."

He went on to slam Alex, saying he’s “not a journalist” but a “stand-in weather guy.”

"I specifically asked for him to come in that morning…,” Piers continued. “He wanted to explain to us and the moment he came on air he came with a premeditated attack on me that was quite personal.”
