Good Morning Britain: Jackie Weaver declares she DID have the authority in defiant interview

A defiant Jackie Weaver declared she DID indeed have the authority in a Good Morning Britain interview she never thought she'd be giving even just a few days ago.

Jackie's name became the name on many people's lips on Friday after footage of a chaotic Zoom call involving members of Handforth Parish Council went viral, being lapped up by millions online.

Council clerk Jackie was the woman after the centre of the drama, who leaving some of the council members fuming as she booted Chair of the council, Councillor Brian Tolver off the call, after he told her she "had no authority here!"

Jackie, meeting clerk from the Cheshire Association of Local Councils, then instructed the remaining members to appoint a new chair as Councillor Brewerton fired back: "No they can't because the vice-chair's here, I take charge!"

In a now iconic line, he then shouted: "Read the standing orders! Read them and understand them!"

Reacting to the stardom she now has thanks to the unintentionally gripping Zoom call, Jackie was asked by Piers Morgan: "Have you worked out who had the authority in that meeting?"

Jackie Weaver was at the centre of the parish council drama (ITV)

She confidently replied: ""I have always been very clear who had the authority in that meeting... me."

Taking a more serious tone about how the call was handled, Jackie later added: "The idea we'd even have a recorded or virtual meeting, nothing was written about that so until it is tested in case law, both sides will argue they are right.

"I’m still of the opinion that I am correct because of the way the meeting was called... the meeting hadn’t even started."

Viewers were delighted to see Jackie in the GMB spotlight, with one tweeting: "I’m a parish clerk and Jackie Weaver is my idol now!!

"Regardless of who has authority (as she says, it is a bit of non starter due to no case law in this situation) there is no place for rudeness and disrespect. You go Jackie!!"

A second posted: "Be more Jackie Weaver"
