Good Morning Britain hosts forced to say goodbye quickly as show taken off air

Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley were forced to wrap things up quickly on today's Good Morning Britain as they were taken off air.

Actor Robert Bathurst was on the show talking about his new role in Dolly Parton's Smoky Mountain Christmas Carol when he was given a time limit to be done talking. Susanna issued a warning to the guest as the show's outro music began to play in the background.

The TV host said: "We are about to be taken off air for the World Cup." She told her guest he had 20 more seconds of talk time before wrapping up.

When he was done saying his final piece, Susanna added: "Good Morning Britain back tomorrow from six. Up next, we're joining our colleagues at ITV Sport for coverage of the World Cup. Thank you."

ITV was set to cover Argentina versus Saudi Arabia at the World Cup in Qatar. Laura Woods will be presenting all the action from the latest match.

Straight after, Mark Pougatch would be presenting as Denmark take on Tunisia. Normal scheduling is set to return on ITV from 3.15pm with Catchphrase.
