Good Morning Britain hosts baffled by Matt Hancock's awkward comment about boycotting the show

The hosts of Good Morning Britain have been left baffled by Matt Hancock's awkward comeback as to why he has been boycotting the show in recent months.

The Health Secretary, who famously clashed with Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan on numerous occasions prior to the Government putting an end to ministers going on the show, was confirmed as a guest on Wednesday's Lorraine, much to the shock of GMB presenters Ben Shephard and Charlotte Hawkins.

Ben responded: "Did we hear breaking news that Matt Hancock is coming to an ITV show?," and Charlotte quipped: "He's actually making an appearance?"

During her interview with Hancock, Lorraine Kelly quizzed him on the new face mask rules as well as slamming Government officials for " smashing lockdown rules to smithereens."

And as she ended the chat, she couldn't resist having a little dig about his boycott of GMB.

She said: "You know what? The guys at GMB are very nice. You can talk to them too."

Hancock laughed it off, before replying: "I love ITV, it's great to join you and and to be able to chat."

And reacting to his comment on Thursday's show, GMB hosts Charlotte Hawkins and Adil Ray were rather sceptical.

Adil said: "I love ITV, it's the equivalent of saying, 'Oh I love a good curry' you know? 'I've got Asian mates, I love a good curry'."

Charlotte added: "Okay... do we think he's gonna be coming back anytime soon? What do we make of that response?"
