Good Morning Britain guest stormed off show during heated debate about special needs funding cuts

Radio presenter and commentator Iain Dale stormed off the set of ITV show Good Morning Britain in what was described as 'a fit of pique' after a debate about the Tate Modern attempted murder suddenly got heated.

A panel was discussing the case of a teenager with special needs who has now been convicted of attempted murder after he threw a six-year-old boy from the 10th floor inside the Tate Modern gallery in London in August last year.

The 18-year-old, Jonty Bravery, had told his carers he wanted to hurt or kill people and he had the idea of throwing or pushing someone from a building a year earlier.

The boy, a French tourist visiting Tate Modern, suffered life changing injuries including a deep bleed to the brain.

Bravery admitted attempted murder and is due to be sentenced this month.

The case was being debated on Good Morning Britain, the Echo reports, and panelist Grace Blakely argued a lack of funding and time was to at least partly to blame for the fact nothing had been done about his disclosure to his carer.

Right-wing commentator Iain Dale disputed that. "I'm sorry but that's absolute rubbish, that is not what's to blame," he said, before Grace Blakely and Radio 5Live presenter Nihal Arthanayake spoke over the top of him.

"Fine then, I won't speak," he said. But when the panel stopped talking to give him the space, he ripped his microphone off and stormed off the set saying "Right, ok, that's it."

Hosts Kate and Ben were shocked and struggled to recover after his abrupt departure.

Kate said: "Well that's a shame we wanted to hear what you think."

And Ben said: "No No Iain don't go, we do appreciate everything Iain brings to the debate."
