Good Morning Britain fans left outraged by Piers Morgan's new schedule

Good Morning Britain fans were outraged this morning when they realised they didn't actually have another half hour of Piers Morgan.

Piers and his co-host Susanna Reid returned to the ITV show at 6am today following their Christmas break.

But the daytime schedule has been given a massive shake up following the axing of The Jeremy Kyle Show after the suicide of guest Steve Dymond.

To fill the hour-long slot in the schedule, both GMB and This Morning have been extended for 30 minutes each.

However, fans were unhappy when they discovered that Piers and Susanna don't actually show up until half an hour into the programme, meaning they start at 6.30am, 30 minutes later than they used to.

The show used to run until 8.30am, with Lorraine then taking over.

It now runs until 9am, but the change first thing means Piers and Susanna don't actually work any extra time.

The first 30 minutes of the programme was instead overseen by presenter Charlotte Hawkins and weather presenter Laura Tobin, who went over the headlines and weather for the day ahead.

Piers and Susanna then arrived on the studio floor at 6.30am to take over.

People watching at home couldn't believe it, with some saying they were led to believe that Piers and Susanna would cover the extra 30 minutes themselves.

But they don't show up until 6.30am (ITV)

Viewers immediately took to Twitter to ask producers to reconsider the shake-up.

One said: "@piersmorgan please come back at 6, I cant get my head around this new format! #GMB."

Another commented: "#GMB Is this the new format? If so not happy as only watch until 6:30 so no longer going to see #piersmorgan. It was my morning laugh. Not happy.”"

While one wrote: "@GMB upset with the new format already #gmb #piersfrom6"

And another told Piers: "@piersmorgan I don’t like the new format! Please do something. It’s all too serious and sensible too quickly. #GMB."

After arriving in the studio this morning, Piers had something to say about the new schedule himself.

Sitting next to Susanna, he said: "We don’t know whether we’re coming or going."

Susanna added: "You haven’t lost your 6-6.30 golden moment when Piers rants about the state of the world, it’s just moved."
