Former Bears quarterback Mitch Trubisky gained a measure of revenge against his old team Saturday.
Returning to Soldier Field for the first time since the Bears let him go in free agency after last season, Trubisky was in a familiar groove from the start and led four consecutive touchdown drives as the Bills took a 28-0 lead in the first half of their preseason game.
With the Bills resting starter Josh Allen, Trubisky completed 15-of-21 passes for 157 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions for a 108.6 passer rating. He also scrambled for an 11-yard gain.
With Trubisky at the helm, the Bills scored on each of their first four possessions. Devin Singletary scored on a 14-yard run. Trubisky threw a four-yard touchdown pass to Jake Kumerow. Reggie Gilliam scored on a one-yard run, with Trubisky passing to Jacob Hollister for a two-point conversion that gave the Bills a 21-0 lead in the second quarter.
After Isaiah McKenzie’s 35-yard punt return gave the Bills possession at the 34, the Bills needed just four plays to score. Trubisky escaped pressure from Bilal Nichols for an 11-yard gain on second-and-6, then threw an 18-yard pass to Matt Breida to the 1-yard line. Gilliam scored on the next play to give the Bills a 28-0 lead.
