'Good idea!' - Manchester United fans support Erik ten Hag selection decision vs Leicester

Erik ten Hag has named his starting line-up for Manchester United's Premier League clash with Leicester City at Old Trafford this afternoon, making a flurry of changes.

United, who have won just one of their last six meetings with the Foxes, will be looking to extend their unbeaten run to eight matches following Thursday night's 2-2 draw with Barcelona in the first leg of their Europa League knockout round play-off tie at Camp Nou. Marcus Rashford scored and then played a key role in Jules Kounde's own-goal.

It means that Ten Hag will be determined to see another strong performance, as well as a victory, as his side looks to move to within three points of rivals Manchester City in the Premier League table. The Dutchman, as expected, has opted to make changes to the side that drew in Spain, making five in total.

Diogo Dalot, Victor Lindelof, Lisandro Martinez, Marcel Sabitzer and Alejandro Garnacho have come into the side, meaning Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Raphael Varane, Tyrell Malacia, Casemiro and Jadon Sancho have dropped out.

Meanwhile, the likes of Scott McTominay and Facundo Pellistri have been named among the substitutes. However, the likes of Anthony Martial and Antony remain unavailable through injury.

Having made the decision to make five changes to the side that drew in Spain less than 72 hours ago, Ten Hag will be hoping to see a second successive league win from his side as they look to extend their long unbeaten run at Old Trafford. It is the decison to name Varane on the bench that has attracted the most attention from United's supporters in the immediate aftermath of the team news being confirmed.

Below, MEN Sport has taken a close look at what some of United's supporters have had to say in response to Ten Hag's decision to start the Frenchman on the bench for the second league game running.

As you can see from the messages displayed in the tweets above, Ten Hag's decision to leave Varane out of the starting line-up has earned plenty of support. The Reds have three massive games in this next week and need their star centre-back available for the clashes with Barcelona and Newcastle United.

United starting line-up: De Gea; Dalot, Lindelof, Martinez, Shaw; Sabitzer, Fred, Fernandes; Rashford, Weghorst, Garnacho.

Substitutes: Heaton, Wan-Bissaka, Varane, Malacia, McTominay, Mainoo, Pellistri, Elanga, Sancho.

This afternoon's contest kicks off at 2:00pm and you can follow all of the action on our live matchday blog, which you can access by clicking here.
