Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Luke Steele is set to return to the City Ground this month.
Steele is currently on loan at Millwall but has yet to play a single Championship minute at the New Den.
The former Manchester United stopper is behind Bartosz Bialkowski in the pecking order at the Lions, who are eyeing a play-off place under Gary Rowett.
In seventh-place, Millwall have been revitalised by the former Derby County boss who took over from Neil Harris following the latter's departure in October.
Steele was signed by Harris and now looks to be heading back to Forest with Frank Fielding, Millwall's backup, returning to fitness following a quad injury picked up on the opening day of the season.
Forest stopper Steele has been limited to just a couple of outings in the Carabao Cup this season.
"I’ve had a good conversation with Steeley," Rowett told the South London Press and Mercury .
“His mindset was that he came here to try and play games and it has not worked out for him due to Bart Bialkowski’s form and various other things.
“He needs to go and play. He can’t afford at his age and stage of his career, where he has played so many games, to be sat on the bench.
“He has been brilliant support in terms of what we have done over this period but I expect him to choose to go back when his loan is up.”
